The city of hot air balloon
A few kilometres away in the South East of the Pilat, in Ardeche, take flight as the Mongolfier brothers did, to the city of the inventors !
At the feet of the Monts du Vivarais, in Ardèche, the birthplace of Joseph and Etienne de Montgolfier, we celebrate each year the ingenious invention of two brothers remembered for their sharp mind and dexterity through The Art of Soaring festival, dedicated to their invention, and which sees colourful hot-air balloons soaring high into the sky to pay tribute to the first balloon flight on 4 June 1783. During this festival, you can experience re-enactment, a first flight, a hot-air balloon take-off at sunrise, and/or the highlight of the show, a flight over the mountains of the Pilat Regional Nature Park. This festival is definitely worth a visit as a stand out for its uniqueness!
